STONEWALL
EXTERIOR STUCCO
SPECIFICATIONS
DESCRIPTION:
STONEWALL EXTERIOR STUCCO is a completely
prepared Portland cement base material designed
for hand or machine application. All ingredients
meet ASTM Standards and Government Specifications.
STONEWALL EXTERIOR STUCCO is available
in a wide range of colors to be selected from
the STONEWALL COLOR CHART. Special colors
are available upon request. STONEWALL EXTERIOR
STUCCO is also prepared in 1000 and 2000 Bases
for use with separate STONEWALL COLOR BOTTLES
of Stonewall Standard Colors for on site job mixing.
Mix one bottle of STONEWALL COLOR BOTTLE
per 90lb sack of the appropriate STONEWALL
EXTERIOR STUCCO base. STONEWALL EXTERIOR
STUCCO is packaged in 90lb. and 25lb. sacks.
|
COVERAGE:
One 90 lb. sack of STONEWALL EXTERIOR STUCCO
covers approximately 10-15 square yards depending
upon method of application and condition and type
of sub-surface (I.E., rough sub-surface, poured
concrete, etc.). |
MIXING:
Power mix for at least five minutes, adding clean
water only, and bring to desired consistency.
All admixtures must be approved by STONEWALL
STUCCO |
APPLICATION:
Should be applied over a thoroughly moistened
cement based plaster substrate of uniform thickness
and suction. Moist cure with fog spray if required.
When curing is necessary, it should be accomplished
within 24 to 48 hours. If applied during hot,
dry or windy conditions, curing may be required
within the first few hours. This is to ensure
that the cement has adequate moisture to hydrate
for necessary strength and durability.

FLOAT FINISH
Uniformly moisten brown coat surface and allow
water to dissipate. Trowel apply first finish
coat approximately 1/10 inch thick. Trowel final
second finish coat over the firm colored first
coat to a natural break (corner, angle, screed,
etc.). The joining of two color coats should not
occur at same point, except at natural breaks
in the wall. Float uniformly, using an absolute
minimum of water and taking care not to lap finish
coat joining. Total float finish coat thickness
should be 1/8 inch. |
| 2. |
DASH FINISH
Over brown coat the first dash application shall
uniformly cover the surface and form the texture
pattern. The second dash coat shall be applied
after the first coat is dry. This final coat shall
assure uniformity of color and texture, using
care to avoid piling up of material. Over monolithic
concrete apply thin "parge" coat and hand tool
for maximum compaction. Allow to dry at least
24 hours. Proceed with dash application to assure
uniformity of color and texture. |
| 3. |
TEXTURED FINISHES
For surface treatments other than float and dash,
consult "stucco textures & finishes" and/or
the plastering contractor. When heavy textures
are specified, the manufacturer should be informed
to insure that the proper formulation is used
for application of thicker coats of stucco.
|
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
APPLICATION
OVER CONCRETE:
Sandblast all surfaces prior to application of
stucco. On gun applied stucco, fill all large
voids with stucco just ahead of the application.
ACRYLIC BONDER is recommended over all concrete
substrate. ACRYLIC BONDER should be blended with
the stucco at I gallon per 4 sacks. This will
provide proper bond to the substrate and increase
the water resistance of the stucco.
APPLICATION OVER MASONRY:
Apply a minimum 3/8" brown coat over masonry walls,
taking care that the brown coat is properly water
cured prior to the application of stucco.
CURING:
Extreme care should be taken when curing exterior
stucco in dry weather. Do not apply water for
a period of four hours after application, then
fog spray very lightly and evenly, but do not
saturate on first water curing. In slightly damp
or foggy weather curing may not be necessary.
For proper curing over concrete surfaces in extremely
dry weather, a second water spray may be necessary
twenty-four hours after first water spraying.
SPECIAL NOTE:
Under normal conditions exterior stucco produces
uniform colors. To compensate for inclement weather,
variations in thickness of the base coats or other
circumstances leading to mottled colors, specify
Portland cement fog coat of same color as exterior
stucco. Follow manufacturer's mixing instructions.
Apply with pressure tank sprayer after exterior
stucco is thoroughly dry. If, in the contractor's
judgement, conditions warrant a deviation from
these standards, he becomes solely responsible
for the final results. |
